Default Thermostat Question?

Do you guys think by changing out the stock 192 degree thermostat to a 180 I would see any gains? I think going with the 160 would be a little too much... But thats why I'm asking. Give my your thoughts.

I am going 160 (waiting to install) and I have a hand held tuner to make the fans comeon sooner, IMO I dont think you will notice and hp gains, you may see 3-4hp on a dyno but knowing that the engine is running cooler (along with the engine bay temps being cooler too) satifies me

I have a 160 and my temp never gets over 181. Anything lower than stock well help you run cooler. Good Luck. Make sure you get a tuner to reset your fans on what ever temp you decide to go with!

The engine needs to run at a higher temp to burn off deposits. It is also more efficient at higher temps. To me, the benefits of a cleaner engine outweigh any small performance gains.

Without a fan program change the lower stat will do nothing.

I just put in a 160 and reset the fans.

Yesterday it was 90 outside, and was runing up to 192 sometimes 180
in city/town driveing.
