I would go with the AC first, but I am sure that if Mobil ONE affixes their name to an oil filter, it can't be that bad for your car? Beside, I betcha somewhere on the box you will see the words about not voiding manufacturer's warranty or some such verbage?

I use Fram. When you go tighten it down. Turn it by hand unit it is tight, then turn it @ 1/4 to 1/2 a turn more. You really don't need to torque it down. Just make sure that the gasket from the old filter is actually off and not stuck up onto where your new filter and gasket is to go. You will have problems if this occurs. I really don't think it really matters on which filter is used. It's just an individual preference. Spend $3 or spend $15. Whatever floats your boat!!!!!!

I'm a big fan of the Wix filters myself. For years I was running the K&N oil filters on both of my cars, and they are great filters, but pricey and hard to find for a lot of people. I decided to give Wix a try and they've worked out well for me, my oil analysis results have shown they work just as well as the K&N, but at a lower price.
I know the Wix filters flow very well, plus they are constructed very well also. They use a T3 semi synthetic media and a silicone antidrainback valve (which is more durable in extreme heat/cold than nitrile, which is what a lot of oil filters use)

If it is not used for track days stick to AC/Delco 6 for $54 delivered from GMpartshouse.com
If you want more flow go to K&N at about 1.5 x the price.

Mobil 1 and K & N
While doing some filter research, I found some reviews on many filters. It seems that the Mobil 1 and K&N filters are identical, except for the filtering media. The Mobil 1 uses a synthetic coated media. Other than that, they are the same. Ones recommended to stay away from are Bosch and Fram. Purolator and Wix were good along with the NAPA Gold. Lots of info at www.bobistheoilguy.com. Read some of the forum comments. Good luck.
