I have a 2000 C5. Has anyone had either good or bad experience with replacing the original seats?

I bought the car new and have hated the seats from day one. Rather than buying a new Vette, I thought I would just switch out the seats.

I am concerned that after-market seats will impact the functionality of the electric seat control.

What are you looking for in a new set of seats? Are you looking for something sportier, just better quality materials, something stock-ish? Also, your price range plays a huge factor in any recommendations. Aftermarket seats can get up there in price.

In addition to my 2000, I have a 1992 Vette. I like the seats a lot better in the 1992. Those seats seem to be "form fitting" if you know what I mean.

My dissatisfaction with the 2000 seats is not the material; it is the lack of comfort and "hand in glove" feeling.

As for price, I don't want the price of the seats, I really don't know what is reasonable, but I $2,000/seat sounds real high to me when the value of the entire car is in the $10,000 to $13,000 range.

Any suggestions. would be appreciated.

Caravaggio sells a gorgeous (and $$$) seat that mounts on the stock base to retain the electric actuation features. At the other end of the price/functionality spectrum, you can install race seats (Corbeau, Sparco, etc.) on manual bases. Not much bling, but losing the stock bases saves 30 plus pounds, and the race seats are great if you do track days or just corner hard on the street.

The Carravagio seats are definitely the nicest C5 replacement seats out there. Unfortunately, I hear that there can be a considerably long wait time to get a pair. I'm not sure but I think he builds them on order only and depending on work load, it may take a long time. I know there have been posts regarding some issues with Carravagio service.

But, yeah they are definitely on my Corvette list of things to add. I have not found better looking seats at any price.
