Coupe vs. Z06
Hi all, what are some pros and cons to a coupe vs. Z06. I am starting my research and having trouble deciding. I love the look and power of the Z but love the targa top in the coupe. Thanks!

I had the same issue when I bought my convertible, loved the idea of driving with the top down, but yet the Z06 had 50 hp and fixed roof
Well decided to get the convertible and never regretted it. Oh and regards to wishing I had the extra power. Well I took care of that, So now I've got my cake and I can eat it too!

You really can't go wrong with either one.

I'd rather go with the coupe. My previous sports car had a targa also, and I decided from then on that, that was the body style that I must have. Sure the ZO6 comes standard with more power and a few other things, but I love the exotic look of the targa. It's not a convertible (I think convertibles are for chicks ) but you get to have an awesome open-air experience. A ZO6 is going to start out more than a coupe anyways, so with the money saved, you can spend on some upgrades to get you to ZO6 level power.
Besides it's not like 350hp in a 3200lb car is going to be slow.

A coupe can always be modded to go fast also. I love being able to take the top off in the fall/sprng/summer so the extra 40 hp with the Z did not bother me...plus I knew I would end up adding mods to add Hp anyway so it made sense for me.

You can make a coupe faster, you can't make a Z topless. If you are planning on doing any mods you will typically change a lot of the things that gives the z the extra HP.

I'll take my Z06 ANYDAY over ANY C5 coupe. I don't care what is under the hood.
I see 20-25 coupes a day, no joke. I MAY see 1 Z06, if I'm lucky.
If a top coming off makes it a sports car, I'll take my factory RACE CAR with it's roof......
LOL, all in good fun. Both are great cars. The argument that the coupe can be modded is futile. Both can be modded.

it's a MY 02 triple black z06 with 29k miles, and i love having the neck-snapping performance of the z0 and the open-air feeling of the 'vert. best of both worlds.

Z06 - better overall gearing, more HP on tap, better handling. But, fixed roof so no open air driving.
Coupe - less expensive, open air driving possible, more storage room.
Just depends on what you are really wanting in a Corvette.
