God doesn't want me to have a corvette.
This is a long and terrible rant so you probably shouldn't read it. However, if you do read it, take a moment to laugh at my expense. At least some good can come from all of this.
About a month ago I decided it was time to buy a corvette. I've always wanted one. Either a vette or a muscle car, and well, living in south LA, you need AC so I decided on the vette. I shopped around, found Capital One for my loan and got preapproved. Great. I went through some vettes for sale on the forum and found the one for me. So I call up Cap One and tell them to send me the loan documents. They tell me it will take 3-5 business days or 25 bucks to overnight it, and so I tell them to just snail mail it. The lady says thats great, its in the mail.
8 business days later I call them when it hasn't arrived. The guy on the phone puts me on hold for 15 minutes and comes back. He says that they haven't mailed it yet!!! But they know I'm not crazy because in the case notes it has the spot where the lady said it was in the mail. So he tells me they'll wave the overnight fedex fee and get it to me, all I have to do is get them proof of residency. Well alright, this is labor day weekend so I wait until Tuesday and fax them a pay stub. They call back, nope, has to be a bill. So I fax my entergy (power) bill to them and they call back and say it is no good since its an internet bill. In despair I send them the water bill from 2 months ago. It was the only paper bill I had and has since been converted to an ebill as well. They say its good.
So 2 days later I call back and it still isn't here!!!! They tell me that they haven't been able to confirm residence because they can't contact the water company. Good God... So I tell them that BR water company has a monopoly here in my town of 800k people and approx 1 phone line. They say tough. At this point I'm really pissed.
I go to lendingtree.com and put in an app there. Two minutes later Capitol One calls back and starts all kinds of stuff about why I'm trying to get a better rate, blah blah. I tell him that I don't care about the rate, and then go on my rant about not being able to get the loan even though I'm approved. Apparently this guy could smell the lost business and immediately sends the loan documents Fedex Red. Supposed to be here Friday at 10:30am.
I decide to work at home that day so I can be here at the house to sign for it. Well 11am rolls around with no luck so I check the fedex website. Low and behold... It says delivered!!! Someone named S.Carter had signed for it (not me). I call the office thinking maybe they sent it there and someone signed for it. Nope. So I call fedex and the lady is like, "Oh yes, its delivered. ...... Wait, this isn't right...." And goes on to tell me its been delievered to some downtown address. ARG!!! I know the street so I hang up and I'm going to go down there and get the darn thing myself. Walk out the house to my truck. Flat tire. These tires are 2 weeks old. I see the nail in it. Thank God it isn't in the sidewall.
Change the tire and haul butt downtown. Find the street. The address they gave me is condemned. So I come back home, and what do I find when I walk up to the door? One of those pretty little door handle hanger notes from my fedex man saying I wasn't at home to sign for my package!!!!!!! It also says I can pickup the package at such-and-such location after 9:30pm. Lower on the slip it says that said location closes at 5pm. So I call fedex again and FINALLY 30 minutes later the guy shows up and brings my package.
So I get in my truck, go get some lunch and a coworker brings me into the office while I drop the truck off at tire kingdom for the tire repair. (would have done it myself but the nail looked crooked and nasty). Now 20 minutes later tire kingdom calls. Tire is irrepairable. Apparently this nail coiled around itself and punctured the tire multiple times in close proximity. So I have to buy a new tire. 2 weeks after buying 4 new tires. At least he gave me a break on it and I bought road hazard for all 4 tires this time.
So I finally end this horrible day, vette-less. At least this upcoming week it looks like I might finally get to buy it. o2thief has been very understanding during this long and horrible ordeal.
So finally on the way to pick up the truck, I'm relating this to my coworker. He says, "Maybe God doesn't want you to have a vette."
I gritted my teeth and told him it was just a test of faith.
Wish me luck. Hopefully I'll join the ranks soon.

Speaking from the King of bad Karma - ME - there was reason for this. You have been "stalled" because something bad may have happened. It wasn't God, but your Guardian Angel.
Thank him or her for protecting you. You WILL get your Vette!!!

Wow, You are lucky you didnt go with Cap one. I had numerous problems with them. Never again will I use them. You have a great story to tell now when you actually get your car home.

I hear ya dude! I was stalled on my first Corvette deal, and it fell through!
Two months later, I had sold three cars on e-bay, Had 30K cash in hand and ended up finding a PERFECT '04 with 30K miles for LESS money than the '02 I was originally buying. Yes, I agree, EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON!

I went through CapitalOne for my '07. When I went to order the car, via the R8C Museum Delivery, I went to CaptialOne for preapproval first and was accepted. I had to fax copy of my pay statement and insurance, but that was all. My problems happened when I got the documents/check, it was only good for 45 days and the build of the car would take longer. I let things go till till the day before the expiration and of course I already had the deposit and order running and by that time, I had a TPW and then VIN# already. So, I call up CapitalOne and tell them all this. We mutally agree to cancel it and I immediately re-applied and was once again accepted. I'm thinking, Ok, no problem. A week goes by and I get a letter in the mail from CaptialOne stating they have decided not to loan me the money after all and by this time, I've made the flight and hotel reservations for Bowling Green. BUT, the very next day, I receive the new loan documents/check! No way was I going to call them now. I send the final documents to the selling dealer along with the check and my downpayment cashier's check. Now my understanding was that the dealer had to call CapitalOne to verify it and it was Ok, so the deal went through and the picture in the avatar is my '07, but I was sure a rattled mess by that point.

Check out one of your local "community" credit unions where just about anyone can join. Local is always good where you can walk in and talk to a very live person.
