Added some light to my trunk (pics!)
I was disappointed when I first took off the trunk light lenses to find out that in that long rectangular shaped lens they had nothing more than a little 194 bulb. but something told me they had potential.
I ordered 4 festoon type bulb holders and 4 blue super bright wide angle 44mm festoon LED's from autolumination. the bulb holder fit perfectly into the stock housing. I ordered 3 new housings from Gene at gmpartshouse.com, one to replace one of mine which had a retaining clip broken, and two more to add some extra light to my trunk! I soldered some wires onto the bulb holders and passed them out, two through the slots around the mounting tabs, and on the other two I drill some small holes to pass the wires. I mounted the festoon bulb holders with a screw, nut, and some washers wrapped in electrical tape (to prevent a short on the factory contacts) for the two in the factory position I ran the wires into the factory contacts and tightened them there with my insulated washers, this way they would plug in just like the stock lights do. for the extra ones I just spliced into the stock wiring. I had to add a spacer to the 2 new ones and then used 3m tape to hold them in place, and put one above each wheel well hidden under the sides of the trunk so you can't really see them unless you look carefully. the result is awesome! so much more light than I had before, they look amazing. check it out!

thanks for the compliments!
this is the type of festoon bulb:
these are the holders:
I have white versions of those festoon LEDs in my map lights also, much brighter than stock with a pure white light. I also put one of these in my hood light:
again, more clean pure light than stock. it was not a direct drop in replacement though as I expected it to be, I had to make it work.
