Default Throttle Body Cleaning

When cleaning my Vortex filter I want to clean my MAF and my Throttle Body. I have the CRC MAF cleaner but what about the throttle body?
Can I use my regular spray carb cleaner or do I need a special Throttle Body cleaner ?

Use only the CRC Throttle Body cleaner. No carb cleaner, too harsh of some of insides coated with teflon.

Their maf cleaner worked wonders for my car.

I had a Nissan Altima before this Corvette, and an LS1 T/A before the Altima. Anyway took the Altima in for service and they wanted to clean the TB, I had never been told to do that on the Trans AM so I didn't know its something we have to do. I kinda thought it was a blinker fluid is low type deal and total bs? I've seen TBs a lot from doing intakes and such, esp on my LT1 car I had in highschool and the TB always seemed clean to me. Is there a chance of a lot of carbon buildup? I have little to no oil consumption because mine is a 2003. This is news to me.

I see it a lot. My C5 needed a TB cleaning when I got it (71K) and it improved the idle and "tip in" throttle response. I've seen them so bad the throttle was sticking just off idle.

This is my C5 but I've seen them worse than this. Not sure why some cars get it and some don't but that seems to be the case.

It really helps throttle sticking problems.

I pull the TB off the car and clean it. Others may leave them on. Your choice really.

Much easier and you can get the TB a lot cleaner by removing first and then cleaning with TB spray cleaner. Every modern fuel injected engine I've seen, can use a TB cleaning after a few years of driving. Lots of black gunk / carbon build up that is removed in the cleaning process.
