Techron / Seafoam / Z-MAX
OK guys, here's an opportunity to voice an opinion on any of the titled additives. I've used Techron and Seafoam with nothing less than excellent results.
Most recently I used Techron to cure an "Engine Warning" lite on my wife's '01 Maxima. Car has 100k and the lite's on one day. Took it in for a code read and it turned out to be the left bank cat. We drove it for 2 months before the lite came back. I added a bottle of TECHRON and drove it 25miles and the "Engine Warning" lite went out and has stayed out. Now I add it about once a month.
I know you all like Seafoam and so do I. Periodically, I use Seafoam in every motorized vehicle and yard tool I have. I put it in my GoldWing for a fuel winterizer. I'm sold on the effectiveness and the benefits it seems to provide.
I just watched "TWO GUYS GARAGE" on Speed and they were blowing up Z MAX and all of the wonderous things its capable of doing for and to your engines. I've always considered it a "snake-oil" that compares with the "Tornado" that "TWO GUYS" also likes ($$$). Carroll Shelby used to do ads for its virtues but I have never known anyone who ever used it. I read somewhere some time ago that the company was in a jam over false and misleading advertising and had paid out $ for claims. Maybe thats good!
What say you all ?

Had the gas gauge syndrome. Used Techron, got fixed (2 yrs ago). Got the same syndrome now, tried Techron many times, didn't work. Tried Seafoam, didn't work so far... . Gas gauge is ok, UNTIL it goes low on gas, then....boom, it hits the bottom. Then goes up a little (sometimes), or remains at the bottom...

I just changed the oil & filter on my '01 (38,000 on odo). Added Z-Max to oil and gas. The instructions say results will be noticed in 30 days, so no opinion yet.
The ONLY reason I did it is because of Mr. Shelby's endorsement on TV.
He's a hell of a car builder, and I don't think he would tout it just for the $$$. And, by the way, the false advertising charges, pay outs, and law suits were for "Slick 50" additives.

Techron to clear a fouled fuel sensor, Seafoam to blow out the upper cylinders. Either one as a general fuel system cleaner or preventative maintenance.
