Gto Engine Vs Corvette

The 400HP motor in the GTO was the LS2 I believe. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I don't know why you would want to. You can modify an LS1 for less money and get more power. I'm no mechanic, but modifying a LS1 seems like a better choice.

You can drop an LS2 into a vette but like said above you can get comparable results from a LS1. Once the mods start going on it is a wash.
Mod the LS1!
More specifically though:
98 would have:
806 heads
Perimeter bolt valve covers
LS1 intake manifold with EGR
LS1 block
28 lbs/hr injectors
05 would have
241 heads
Center bolt valve covers
LS6 intake manifold w/out EGR
LS6 block
26 lbs/hr injectors
Different cam for more low end torque
C6 fuel system
Different style water pump

Ls1 to Ls2 swap
It's a simple swap. The GTO LS2 motor is no different from a C6 LS2 other than accessory brackets and oilpan.
I have a LS2 (402) in my '00. To do the swap there are frt cover, valley cover swaps, a few harness extensions and Knock sensor relocation. If you use the LS2 intake you will need a drive by wire TB. If you keep yours (LS1) it will bolt right up.
Do a search and you will find lots of info.

I own a 98 Vette and an 06 GTO as my DD, firsthand the 6.0 is the better engine for obvious reasons, being an evolution of the LS2. Better breathing, more displacement, quicker revving, etc. That said, if you have no reason to pull your LS1 out, it is a solid foundation for a buildup. An interesting twist though is driving a CTS-V equipped with an LS6 vs. a CTS-V equipped with an LS2. The LS6 revs even quicker feels better midrange and upper rpms. Bottom line they are all fantastic engines.
Right now I am debating H/C for my 98 or going FI.
