how many quarts of oil does the c5 take?
just had my first oil change done and seen that they put in six and a half quarts of oil, is that correct?

I put 7 in mine.
The difference in the amount that it takes to fill C5 may be due to 2 things:
1. It may be that some old oil is still left in the pan. The drain plug is on the front of the pan and unless you have the back higher than the front you won't get all of the old oil out.
2. I start mine and let it run for about 5 min prior to changing the oil. thins the oil out a bit and it drains better. Just don't get the engine to hot. The oil will burn you.

No no no.....if you are patient enough to let it all drain and have it warmed up before uncorking it and have the rear up higher and you don't have an extra oil cooler.....Then seven quarts will be an overfill and you will be stressing seals and probably smelling some oil burning, especially after high revs.
Six and a half.......stock.....no more, no less.

I did my own change and used 6.5 qts as per the book including charging the filter. I had to top it up inside a month and my car doesn't use much oil. I'd say it probably needs nearer 7 qts. Somewhere in between will be about right.

This is wrong. If you check the owners manual it says to add an extra quart if racing the car or high rpm use. The pan can hold 8. & will not stress anything! I have used 7 for 4 years and 55K miles no problems ever!!!
