Default Battery Charger problem

I've got the "Wally World" Schumacher charger/maintainer and have tried to use it on my '01 with an Optima Red. After it's on for a bit, it goes to "red light" or "trouble" indicator. The Optima is 2 yrs. old and fires up the car (had to see if it would still start!).
I've used it on my "goat" and Harley and no problems.
WTF?

I've got a fairly new Vector charger that does the same thing it will charge the the battery in my lawn tractor, my truck, my C3 but not my Optima Red top that I've got in my 04. The new style microprocessor controlled chargers have to be designed to work on the Optima and similar batteries, if it doesn't say works with AGM batteries it probably wont. There's nothing wrong with your battery.

The Black and Decker for $18 works great. Also from Wally world.

I have two of those Schumacher maintainers and I use one of them on a Optima Red. Charges it with no problems.

My '69 GTO also has the Optima Red, and it works fine with it!
