Default MGW Shifter install and review

I replace my C6 shifter with a new MGW shifter on Saturday. MGW has a long history but just recently entered the Corvette world. The MGW comes in 25% and 35% shorter throw than the C6 shifter. You do the math to figure out how much shorter that makes it to the C5. This shifter hasn't made much noise on C5GEN but it's getting popular over on C6GEN. I stole the pics from NIGHTSTALKER there - thanks.

I went with the 25%. I've had stock, C6 and B&M Ripper in the car and by far this is the best shifter I've ever had in the car. Short precise shifts and there is never a doubt if you are all the way in gear - like first. Driving 35 miles to work today it is a short throw shifter I can live with on a daily basis. It is a very substantial and well engineered piece of hardware.

The shifter comes with everything in the first picture.

I told you it was nicely made

The **** provides a very solid feel.

Installed in a C6 but you get the idea

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

you may not know the answer to this but since you posted your C6 install in the C5 section I'm asking you anyway.

how is the **** installed on the C5's??? is it threaded onto the stalk or is there a set screw used?

I've been on the fence about getting one for the Z, I've heard good reviews from the rustang and wiper camps though.

Check my sig. It was installed in my C5. I "borrowed" the pics from NightStalker who posted them in the C6GEN. I don't think many people on C5GEN have heard about it. The **** threads on and has a set screw. I had an MGW shifter in my Saleen and loved it but they just started making one for the C5/6. I think they may be working on one that will accept a stock C6 ****.

You have to get them directly from MGW and they have/had a special which includes the **** for about $200.

I am also very interested in that shifter the quality looks amazing!!!! Couple questions do you have to use their shift **** or can you still use a stock Corvette C5/C6 ****? Do you notice any transmission noise resonate through the shifter (as some aftermarket shifters tend to do)? And as everyone is curious any idea on pricing?

Thanks,
JT

See above on the *****. It doesn't rattle, vibrate, make noise, etc.

Looks real good and strong, are those bushings in pic #7 the rubber ones that are the original ones? I replaced the rubber ones to the solid ones that you get with the B&M shifter and they are the cause of the noise in the B&M shifter.

I wish I did. I must have pulled a wire loose from the Sirius. It's not showing up on the Kenwood 7100 anymore.

Foe those of us that are not mechanically inclined, about how much do you think it would cost to have this installed? Looks like a perfect mod for the C5.
