Default New Battery?

Hi all. I was wondering if changing the battery on my c5 1997 to a lightweight battery would be worth the money? what do you think?

I wouldn't think that it would be worth the trouble and expense just to save what little weight you would save.

Depends on what you mean by "lightweight".

As long as it has enough (correct) cold cranking amps (CCA), then you should be OK.

Personally, I would stick with a good name-brand battery. There have been hundreds of battery threads here on the Forum. Do a search.

Buy the original Delco, It is much improved. And if you want to feel safer buy a battery mat to place under the battery should it ever leak.

I couldn't imagine any battery saving enough weight to make any performance difference.

well so called "racing" batteries are about 15 lbs to 16 lbs, and can produce enough CCA's to crank a Vette engine.

"Stock" batteries are about 45 lbs or slightly higher so you do save on weight.

Costs range from 160.00 to 350.00+
