Thank you God and General Motors
Yesterday I was coming around Atlanta's infamous I-285. I was in the far left lane (4 lanes going northbound. One car (a Taurus) was right beside me on the right.
Suddenly from over on the far right about 100 yards ahead, a Toyota 4-Runner came flying directly across all four lanes; clearly out of control. The Toyota hit the concrete barrier in the center at an angle and bounced off and headed directly toward me and the car beside me.
The Taurus slammed on brakes. If I tried to do it too, I wouldn't be able to get behind him fast enough to dodge behind him, so I threw it down to 2nd and punched it as hard as I could AT the 4-Runner. My baby had enough go to get in front of the Taurus and cross three lanes to the right to avoid the 4-Runner. The Toyota hit the Taurus head-on, half in their lane, half in the lane where I used to be. If I'd been in anything slower than my Corvette, I'd either have been trapped in the lane or hit when I tried to cross in front of the Taurus. Only something as powerful as a Corvette had the horsepower to pull something like that. As it was, I only missed both cars by inches (or so it seemed at the time).
Fortunately, both drivers were braking when they hit and probably were only going around 35 mph each. They were both hurt badly, but not life-threatening. Both cars looked pretty well totaled to me.
Thank you Lord for looking out for me and thanks GM for building a Corvette.

Didn't really think, just hit the brakes for a second, saw the Taurus staying beside me and floored it. All I could think of was get around this SOB in a hurry.

Probably have a very good point. I didn't even think about how hard it had to cut to pull that off. The traction control and electronic wizards probably had a lot to do with it too. I'd love to think I'm that good, but I'm not that foolish. I found out a long time ago that I'm never going to be good enough to make this car really work.

Glad you're safe and uninjured. Don't miss the mean streets of Atlanta although I do miss the city. Louisville/So. Indiana is a sleepy small town traffic-wise in comparison. When folks here complain about what little traffic there is, I just shake my head and smile. They have NO idea . . .

Good that you escaped any damage and injury. Sometimes it does pay to have HP on tap.

Glad we're hearing about this first hand instead of reading about it from someone else......
You were very fortunate to have the right reaction at the right time.

Glad to hear you and your car are ok !!!
I was thanking God i was in a corvette the otehr night when I had to swirve badly to miss a family of possums in the middle of a busy 4 lane rd. If I would have been in anything but the Vette, it would have flipped several times.
