Default ny state inspection question

anyone know if a 2001 z06 with kooks long tubes on it will pass a new york state inspection? I bought the car from a dealer used and they inspected it before i bought it last year. I had some problems with the dealer and dont want to go back there.

As long as you have working cats and sensors, you shouldn't have a problem. I'm former LEO in New York and there was no prohibition on headers. Remove the cats and we have a problem. New York used to 'sniff' your exhaust during inspection. I don't know if they still do or perform a scan (OBD II) as some other states are doing. Hope I helped.
Good luck.

The inspection shop will connect to the OBD2 port and as the car idles the computer in Albany will scan for codes that turn on the check engine light. If the check engine light is off the car should pass. If the check engine light is on when you start the inspection it will fail and the codes will print out. If the check engine light is on and you clear the codes to turn it off before you take the car in for inspection then it has to be driven at least 50 miles to erase the codes.
