How much weight can a C5 pull (trailer)
I was wondering what the towing capacity of a C5 is? Could you pull small enclosed trailer with some very light cargo? ~1200lbs OK?

I will not ask you to put on your flame suit. Just look up towing in your owner's manual. Good luck from there!

While I agree that the C5 was not designed to tow, I believe that the only vehicles that are designed to tow anything these days are trucks and even THAT is debatable.
However, this is a light car and a 5.7L engine. It appears that you want to tow a small utility type enclosed trailer (i.e. for some camping gear or such). The car clearly has the engine power to do so with over 350 HP - so as for the engine and transmission - it would not appear to be much of a drag on them.
I have an LT1 engine with a 700R4 trans in my street rod and have a painted trailer to match. We use it to go to some car shows to haul the cooler, canopy, lawn chairs, BBQ equipment and such. I just can't tell it's back there. My Street rod is much heavier and has a smaller engine than the C5 corvette.
Also there was a recent thread that was published here where a company made a trailer that looks exacly like the corvette. In one picture an owner had a corvette car towing a corvette trailer.
I wouldn't guess on the limits of the towing capacities as I'm no expert.

Forget the "purists"!!! I towed my teardrop trailer with my vette all over the country. It weighted approximately 1,000 loaded. If you like to camp like we do, it's either pull with it or leave it at home and take the Ram. I like camping so we used it to tow, then went to the Vette events close by the campgrounds.

Yeah - I agree. Owner's manual be damned! What do they know?
Tow your trailers.
Tow your trailers.

Yup, extra noise in the thread already.
I've towed my motorcycle on an open bed trailer. The trailer weighs about 700 lbs and the bike 400ish. It works fine, although I'd recommend z06 springs so your rear doesn't squat real far.
There's one member here who tows rail car stuff
C5 works better then any other passenger vehicle I've used to tow that combination. Its got:
1) Powerful motor with lots of torque
2) Rear wheel drive
3) Big brakes
4) Wheel base similar to a Jeep Grand Cherokee
5) Full frame
6) Relatively stiff suspension
The only thing I wouldn't do is launch a jetski off the boat ramp.

I have no idea why anyone would ever want to trailer anything around in a Vette...but....

See attached pic. That trailer pulls nice at 140mph loaded with tools and tires
