Caliper Paint..spray or brush?
I see most have used a few brands of caliper paint. Most of the people brushed on paint.I see there are spray paint also. Has anybody used it. Most of the brush jobs you see brush marks!

I used a dremel tool on mine to get them clean. Then I used high temp primer spary and red spray paint in the kits that come from the auto parts store.
They came out looking great.

no...definitely not....you use the special caliper paint that withstands heat, gas, oil, etc etc.....Did mine a year ago, still looks new today, even after I have cleaned them about a million times with engine degreaser and brake cleaner to remove brake dust.

I used the caliper paint from the rattle cans, and it came out good. Then I used an agle grinder to grind off the excess paint. I tryed sanding it, and the sand paper left scuff marks on the edge of the caliper, and I then clear coated the whole thing.

Paint
I used the Dupli-color paint and it worked great. But I bought a better brush.I got a 1/2 inch fine hair (very flexible ) brush from the craft store. Several coats, and a strait edge razor to clean the lettering.E Z!

They only make three colors for caliper paint (red, blue, black). Couldn't you also use engine paint which is available in more colors? Do calipers get hotter than the engine?

i used duplicolor brush kit on many vettes, buy a good brush, follow instructions, you will have no brush marks, and its much more durable than a rattle can!

I beg to differ. Rustoleum IS high temp paint.(most people do not realize this). The chemical makeup of the paint is suitable for high temp applications. I've had it on my calipers for 9 years...no problems.

I first sanded the calipers. The calipers are cast and are very rough. After you put high gloss paint it looks worse. So I spent some time sanding them down smoothe. Especially the brackets..
After that I cleaned them thoroughly, applied chapstick to the letters and then spray painted them with high gloss engine paint. The calipers were left on the car. They came out great.
