Default Turn signal rapid blink problem

I'm visiting my parents to help them out with a few things around the house and noticed that the right turn signal indicator in their 2004 blinks VERY rapidly -- maybe 10 or so times/sec rather than the standard ~2/sec or so.

The left turn signal indicator works just fine.

Any help as to where to start in troubleshooting, or fixes, would be appreciated. I grew up with a C3 and currently have a C6, so C5's are new to me.

thanks!
Mark

That is usually an idication that a bulb is blown. Make sure both front and rear signals work. Also make sure both of the right rear bulbs are flashing. If one of the two is out, it will blink fast.

I had this problem & the front turn signal bulb was ok, but the housing was making a bad contact with the bulb. Basically it was a grounding problem with housing & bulb.

The car knows a bulb is out. The front signal bulb is dual filament. If the T/S is working correctly check out the DRLs or the parking lights which are operating the same bulb.
