Wish I had the money right now to get one. Going on a coast to coast trip this fall in the C5 and would be nice to have added protection. Better start saving my pennies.

I have never owned a radar detector before but really looking at this deal. I have a few questions though. With this new GPS tracking and stuff where it marks places where you always get a signal so that after 3 times it is supposed to not trigger "false" alarms anymore. What if the police constantly use the same pull out or place to do radar...after 3 times wouldn't the detector think it was a false alarm and automatically make it so that the detector would no longer trigger an alarm there...so that 4th or 5th time going past that pullout where the cops were doing lazer or radar it would no longer alert you? This is the main thing I am worried about with this intelligent detector thinking that it's not a speed trap when it really is.
Also I am kind of confused on the invisicord thing...Do you just unplug a wire from the back of your rear view mirror or something to power it so that you don't have a cord running down to a cigarette plug? Is there a thread with an instal with pictures of how the invisicord works that anyone knows of? The car it would be going in is a 99 Fixed Roof Coupe. Do you recommend the 8" or 12" cord for that car?
Thanks for any input. -Eric

Opps I guess I should have done more research on it before posting. It looks like you can hit a "mark" button for known radar areas where you know they sit so it gives you a little beep warning that you are coming up on the area. What if it's an area with a lot of false alarms and then the cops set up a trap there...the system should alert you then because the radar and laser guns have a different frequency?
Also it looks like the invisicord should work on my 99 just fine. I am just getting back from a deployment to Iraq though and have never seen my FRC and don't know if the mirror has the plug and play invisicord capability...Do all 99 FRC have a powered rear view mirror or was it optional?
How far can this detector detect on average? What is the range of the V1 or the competition?

I have a C5 and have never seen this plug.
I'll have to look at my mirror again carefully.

Just ordered one.
A friend swears by his V1 and the arrows. We're going on the '09 Caravan so we'll see how they compare.
I do like the idea of knowing which way the radar is - but really does it matter. If you're getting hit by radar aren't you going to slow down anyway?
The only way I could see that it helps you if the radar is behind is that you can speed up when they aren't hitting you (ie, around a curve, over a hill, blocked by 18-wheeler) to try and get some distance. I had a book years ago with tips to avoid speeding tickets. One was to speed up when you were blocked from following radar and then slow down when they were in sight.
BTW - best deal I've found on the 9500ix with all the accessories.
Thanks.

When watching the youtube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvCvJ8IrD1A twice the guy stated this unit picks up all radar and laser used today. I have been reading that no detector picks up layser... true? Is this guy wrong or will this save me from laser?

Wouldn't using the inviscord and visor mount mean that you have to forgo the luxury of the mini remote. I'm not sure what its called but its the little remote where you can control a couple different things like muting and something else. I think its 2 buttons on the cig lighter if you know what I mean?

Hate to say it, but you can snag one of these for around 425 brand new shipped any day of the week via ebay. I dont think it has the extra's though, but cant you just use the usb wire from your printer when you need it. Also how much is the inviscord when sold separately (arm, leg, or both?)
You can try it if you wish, but risky. Escort has had huge issues with people selling them on ebay...Units that are stolen, modified serial numbers, 9500 I's in and IX case. 8500 internals in an I, or IX case....
If you buy one one at a non Escort dealer, it is at your own risk. Call Escort and ask them about this.
See ya,
Jim

It is built into the curly cord...yes, if you use the invisi-cord then the curly cord/remote would not be used....
