Default Where is the mileage stored

Was at Carlisle and was looking at when of the used vette parts and was looking at getting HUD. And we found a deal that got the cluster, and projector. But I don’t know if dads 2000 cluster will have the plug in the back. So the person said that the mileage is stored in the cluster. And if we swap them out we would lose the original mileage to the car

when a cluster is sent in for repair, the facility requires the mileage on the repair order. I would think that indicates it's stored in the cluster

You need to take the new cluster to the dealer to have them put on the actual miles. Whatever miles that the new cluster has will show, so if the new one has a 100k miles on the clock, that's what you see. Kind of scary huh?

If it makes you feel better they guy who was selling the cluster says he sells alot to people who buys and sells these cars when they get them out of a lease auction and such.

Based on info that has been on the forum for 6 or 7 years all 99 and newer cars came with the proper cluster to support the HUD.
