Default Aux input on Stock CD player

I was wondering if there is an Aux input on the stock stereo on my 99 Vert. I would like to hook up my iPod into the stereo but I want to keep the stock stereo. I know that some came with a multi-disk CD player that used the aux input. But, since mine didn’t come with that option, (just the single CD player) did it not come with the aux-in, or is it there and just not being used?

Anyone pulled their stock CD player and might know the answer?

Thanks!

Ouch!

Guess I'll try the FM transmitter thing and see if that works.

Thanks!

FM transmitter does work .OK ... not the best quality sound but a cheap alternative.

And thanks everyone for saving me the time and hassle of ripping the stereo out just to find out the connector isn't there!

Do a search for aux2car or ipod2car. For about $100 or less (depending on if you already have a cd changer cable) you can plug right into the back of the radio and support an MP3 or Ipod. This was the best mod I did to my vette when I had it.

This is a pretty easy thing to do. you could do a search and find several threads telling you how to do this.

Here is my set up.

I just finished putting a 4 terminal audio jack in that taps into the radio head unit and plays my MP3 just fine. Its a bit of work but the whole deal cost me about $5.00. You have to remove the radio unit, open it up and tap into the CD head where it mates to the motherboard. It sounds complex but its really quite easy. Getting the dash apart and the head out is the tough part. I'll do a search tonight and email you with the link(s).

Peripheral GM Aux 10 will work if your headunit had a button labeled "AUX"

My headunit does have a button that has CD and Aux on it. It just switches to the CD when I push it though.

What is "GM Aux 10"?

Ahh... i found it... it costs $80 though.

I have the IPOD2Car. Works great.

Here is a link to a thread with a lot of information on installing it.

Here's the link on how to tap into the head/motherboard of your radio. I used Cat-5 wire and a $3.00 Radio Shack Post Jack. If you do a search on how to change your guage bezels it'll show you how to remove the console, dash etc to get to and remove your radio. I did this and it works like a charm. What it does is tap into the CD head and when you plug your MP3 into the post jack it cuts off the CD and connects your MP3. You have to press the CD button and the disc spins but you'll only hear your MP3 when its plugged in.
Email or message me if you have questions.

I have a 99 and wanted to do the same thing, went to radio shack and one of the guys hooked me up with the tape deck input, little wire easy to hide. The thing works much better than the FM transmitter, unless you want to hear White Snake tapes from the 80's.

Ipod 2 Car will work. You you just have to hit the CD button twice to switch to CD changer controls. If you look on your Numbers the Words next and Previous are there, which are also your CD changer controls.
