Default Signal Mirrors - 97-04 Corvette

I'm thinking of getting a pair Signal Mirrors for my 97 Corvette and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on them?

They are the ones that have an led arrow built into the mirror and blink on and off with you signal flashers.

Here's a link to what I'm talking about;
http://www.pfyc.com/pc/VT1055/VT/Mut...+Corvette.html

Any idea how complicated they are to install? can a shadetree mechanic do the job? easy vs hard?

If you have these mirrors installed on your C5 please let me know if you think they are worth the effort?

Thanks

A friend has them, If I remember correctly patience and cautious pressure were the main components of the install.

It's not a bad install. Just take your time. I have them on my FRC. They're made by MUTH.

As I recall, it took me about 5 hours to install mine, but I took some extra precautions beyond the instructions. 2nd door went much faster than the first.

Yup I have them too. If you can wait, I can take a vid of it tomorrow and will post them as soon as I can, install is about 4-5 hrs, be careful with the mirror post though, it's where the mirror attaches and acts as a lever/actuator, I broke one of them and it's a good thing a member has it and gave it to me for free, otherwise I would've had to buy a whole new assembly. Worth the money IMHO, and I have the heated one as well.

Never tried to install them, but I do think they look good and add a degree of safety for the car.

I'd love to see the video, maybe you can email me at magicseller@yahoo.com.

I actually went to PFYC site and they only have the option to order with heated mirrors but my car never had a heated mirror option. I was kind of confused. Can I order these with the heat option even though I never had it?
Thanks

You could order the heated option, but you would just have two connectors left over on the back of the mirror that would not plug in to anything.

Ordered mine directly from MUTH at http://www.kwmuth.com/products/kits/220-0190.htm

They sell a non-heated version.

i just tapped into the two fat blue turn signal wires that are underneath the steering wheel. these are the same wires you have to tap into when you wire up the muthco mirrors.

you can see which wires i'm referring to here:
