Default Harbor Freight and Sears Floor Jacks?

Just rec'd a flyer from Harbor freight with a U.S. General # 92782, 4000lb, Low profile Aluminum racing jack on sale. Regular price $179.99 with a $20 off sale going on now. Anyone using this jack or any other h.f. jack that they like.
Also how about Sears jacks? Got a Sears gift card for Christmas and maybe thats the way to go. I'd like to avoid having it shipped if possible. Sears and Harbor Freight are just around the corner from me. All comments appreciated!
Thanks

Do a search as there are lots of posts concerning jacks and peoples opinions. You'll see recommendations for both Sears and Harbor Freight. I'm currently looking at Sear's 3 ton low profile jack....decent price. Good luck.

Stay away from sears floor jacks. Got mine last year and did not use it until this past summer, guess what? It didn't work, will not hold a load. they will not replace or issue credit due to the fact that i do not have a receipt. This is a Sears professional............junk

I buy a lot of stuff from Harbor Freight, but not this kind of stuff. Most of what I get there are things that do not have potential hazardous consequences. Many of their air tools, electric and hand tools are sub-standard by any comparison - not even to Sears stuff, much less SnapOn, Mac or Cornwell, etc. It's cheap stuff for an average guy that tinkers and doesn't care if you crack a socket something.

Personally, I would not buy a jack or not even jack stands from them that are made in China or Korea. Sorry, but my life and my car is a bit more important than trusting cheap imported tools with no quality control.

Not bad mouthing their stuff.. Some is great and by comparison very cheap...so much so that you could replace it 2 or 3 times as opposed to getting quality tools.

Get the Sears or look around for good made in USA quality stuff when it concerns risking your life or damaging your car because a simple O-ring fails and the car comes crashing down....... Nope.. not worth it.

I have a Harbor Freight 3000 lb, aluminum "racing" jack and a Craftsman 3 ton jack the rises to full height in just a few pumps. I've owned them both for 3 or 4 years with no problems. Just because the Harbor Freight jack is so much lighter and easier to maneuver around I use it most of the time.

Sears aluminum jacks are junk. I've went through 4 in the past 4.5 years. Got 3 replaced under warranty and the 4th crapped out 2 months after the warranty expired.

I'm on my 2nd Harbor Freight cheapy jack and it's lasted 2 years now.

you must be very limited in what you buy if you buy only USA...90% of American goods come from china...sorry to say... that jack that you buy at sears is assembled in USA but the parts are mostly made in china....

Default Sear Sucker

My low profile aluminum racing style aluminum jack, from Sears, didn't last 4-5 years. I would not recommend buying this style from Sears. Good luck.
