Default Passenger side airbag disable for toddler

My son who is almost 3 wants to ride in the Vette. When I had my 06 I took him a couple of times but now he ask's all the time.

I know you can pull fuse 16 I think. But do they still make the Chevrolet kit? I know there is a aftermarket one for $179.99 but it just seems like a rip off for a switch when I really.

I am good with electrical and would like to just put a switch in. Is there a DIY link anyone know of?

MY CAR IS A 99 so there is NO SWITCH

I have a 1999. My understanding that it was added in late 00.

There should be a key lock in the glove box.

Rockauto.com has kits for about $105. Ebay has some original switches off of cars, but I'm not sure what is involved to make them work with a car that came with out one. $105 is worth it in my opinion. My son LOVES driving with me in mine. The first thing he does is make sure the little light in on, indicating airbags are off (I just keep passenger off all of the time).

Default toddler

if you put in a switch and disable your airbag, u must also change the seatbelt to a non airbag system...your belt and airbag are specifically designed to work together in tandem.. if your son is over 36 inches, and weighs more than 30 lbs. you can put him in a forward facing seat without any problem. just make sure that seat is pushed all the way back.

your manual, will show you the proper belt route for you toddler seat.

good luck.

Why? The 2000+ cars have a switch to turn the airbags off. I have never tried turning mine off, but I doubt that a Trunk Monkey (TM) jumps out and switches out the seatbelts each time you turn the system on and off.

The 97-E00 belt have a break away loop. L00-up have a non loop belt.
The non loop will function properly with or w/o airbag being deployed.
A break away loop belt in a crash w/o air bag deployment[switched off] would not be favorable.

Can you install a Non-Loop seat belt from a 00-04 in a 97??
