looking for a cherry c5 lodaded up...found one that was everything I want but it was FE1 base suspension.

would have perferred it to have had z51 or selective ride control...just curious between the two which do most people want?

I would go for the Z51. I have the F45 adjustable suspension, and if you like the different settings, it's nice...but I always leave mine in the firmest mode. Plus shocks are expensive to replace.

I think most "more performance" oriented drivers will search for the Z51. I have the F45 and love it except for the price of repair. When the time comes to replace shocks I will just go with aftermarket shocks or such. For $800 for a single shock you can get two sets of fully adjustable coilovers for the car. Thanks GM.

I have a spare Z51 suspension. Shocks, sways with end links and springs. Came off my 03. Had it on not quite a year or 10,000 miles if that.

I am open too reasonable offers for the whole package. PM me if interested.

I'd prefer the Z51 suspension any day. The selective ride control (to me), is just an expensive gizmo that may cause you grief in the future.

My preference would be the Z51 suspension.

I will probably go with the coilovers when it is time to change. But right now I love the Selective Ride.

I have the MSRC suspension on my '04 vert. I also like it, but when the shocks go, I can't see spending $800 each, I'll probably replace with Z-51 shocks.

Absolutely not! Those goodies can be added and the price of GM or aftermarket suspension parts are fairly reasonable.

I have a cherry 2002 millineum yellow six speed convertible in the C5's for sale section.
It has all the goodies including the F45 suspension, HUD, 12 CD player and all the rest.
Check out my ad. I have many more photos that were just recently shot by a professional auto inspector (AAG)

The base suspension would not stop me from buying a car that I otherwise liked. Between the Z51 and F55 which was offered in 03 and 04, the F55 is the more refined suspension.
It it very different technology than the F45.

Both the F55 and Z51 are very nice choices, but the base is no slouch either.

97-02 F45
03-04 F55

Both suspensions are expensive to replace. The F55 continued into the C6 and even the C6 ZR1. I have F45 and its basically justs becomes a PITA to get the shocks switched out because of the expense and/or the removal technoques. If it were F55 I'd say OK. If its F45 I'd say Z51

Quick Reply: which is typically more sought after? z51 suspension or the selective ride control?
