Default HAPPY DAY~~ My CLB is installed!

My car had the recall done in late 2008, but after I took the K Harness OUT, they installed the OLD TYCO 15477384, not the newer 19244028.

So far, so good.. No more "weak links" in the system, no faint sound of the locking motor at the start and the shut off.. No more worries of that little motor FAILING! Now, I feel as long as I keep a good battery in my C5, I should be good to go with mo more worries of coming home on a flat bed!

Once again, A BIG THANKS to 8VETTE7 and Kathy from Corvettes of Houston!

I will update if any other issues pop up, but I have high hopes, my future problems are OVER!!!

One of the best mods you can do to the car if you have one that is subject to the column lock problem.

My car had the recall done in 2008 by the original owner, but the dealer used the old "TYCO" K harness that was dated 12/04. I think it could be failing or the lock "motor" could be failing because I have had intermittent "pull key 10 seconds" issues. It could have been because of the defective Red Top Optima I had, which I replaced with the better more powerful Yellow Top Optima that has the needed 120 reserve. I feel much better about long trips now and not getting STUCK! (knock on wood)

Mine wasn't fixed until the CLB was installed! No worries now!

My CLB just arrived today so I have not installed it yet. Was it a big deal to install? How long did it take you? What was the most difficult part? I will do mine next week. I wish I had time before but am going on a trip in it Sat. and won't have time until I get back.

be careful, you may still have the fuel cutoff issue which is usually caused by GM recall #2 and higher. The BCM may sometimes detect a communications problem with the CL and cut your fuel at 2mph. The only fix is to have your fuel cutoff setting changed to 255 mph by a tuner.

I made the mistake of assuming that the recall fixed the problem. Wow, was that an expensive error! I have since lost a huge amount of respect for the General and take all my maintenance elsewhere as a result.

Anyway, I have long since installed the CLB and can be worry free on the issue.

It only took about 30 min.. Im a pretty big guy and it was somewhat difficult to actually get in the right position under the dash. I was just very careful with the removal of the panel and all went well. I did make a call to "Kathy" at Corvettes of Houston and she confirmed I had installed everything correctly.

I still would like to FIND a tuner to program my fuel shutoff to 250 mph, but as long as my battery is 12.5 V or higher, it shouldn't be a problem.
As per 8VETTE7 , most of the Pull Key issues are due to a low voltage problem. I now have a Optima Yellow Top with 120 reserve as per the specs of the C5 (the Red Top only has 100 reserve). I would say, Im good to go! I will just plan to have the battery on a "tender" during the times when the car sits more than a week or 2..
