Default Adding X-Pipe to Corsa Pace catback

Few questions concerning the Corsa X-pipe. I currently have all stock exhaust with a Corsa catback. Do not want to jump to headers right now. Please do not respond saying just get headers. I am simply wondering if there is any performance gains and sound changes by switching out the stock H pipe on my 1999 to the Corsa X-pipe? Thanks!

There won't be any performance gains from an X-pipe, but you will notice a mellower sound with less decel popping and less motorboat sound. I have this exact set up on my Pace Car, it sounds good with out the snap crackle pop and gurgle characteristic of the Corsa exhaust without the X-pipe.

bummer, so the nice flowing X-pipe won't yield any performance gains over that tiny stock H-pipe?

If you install a X-Pipe you'll lose the motorboat sound at idle.

It's claimed a few horses, and torque. Something that small wouldn't be felt or noticed at the track! Biggest improvement is in the sound.

I've been involved in some R&D on exhausts and the best place for the Merge ( "X") is right after the collectors... You want to smooth and balance out the exhaust pulses before they enter the long mid pipes...

Currently, I believe ARH has this design and it works well!

WCC has an interesting design as well incorporating the X within a muffler prior to the over axle pipes. I'm not sure how their can is made or if there are any benifits to that design at all... But it looks cool!

I didn't have headers on mine either, but did have a B&B route 66 catback system. I had a lot of drone/popping from the exhaust - not something I wanted at all. I installed a Bassani x-pipe and probably 95% of the drone went away and the exhaust had a deeper tone to it. Really no performance gains though.

My Vette used to be like that before the blower and it had a nice sound for stock

It is very easy to install. You will just need a hacksaw or sawzall, and your basic wrenches. It will take you longer to get the car high enough in the air then it will to switch out the pipes.

I just got a hot deal from a buddy of mine,,he barely used his corsa X before he went headers and a whole hew system. I have the Corsa Touring,,and kinda like the crackle pop on decel,,,going to kind of miss it!! I will like the smoother sound though!
