Flickering Radio Light & Headlight Switch
I've had my 99 Coupe about 3 months now and the first week I had
the car, I switched out the Costco battery because of corrosion. I did
a lot of research on what battery to get and decided that the SEARS
Platinum was the one for me. Although it is heavy, it's made in USA
and is rated and thought of highly.
I got busy upgrading my wheels and painting calipers and have not
had a chance to run the car much with all the rain we've been having
in Jersey. In any event, when I did run the car I noticed at idle my
radio led light would flicker...so I'm thinking it's the alternator on it's
way out. Then a few weeks ago, the first time I drove the car at
night, the headlights would not go up. They worked fine with the
engine off or with the twilight option on but not with the engine on...
again, I'm thinking alternator.
After reading some old posts, I came across one that mentioned
the battery terminals not being tight enough. Since I live directly
across the street from SEARS, I pulled the Vette out to have them
recheck it. I had to get the Manager involved because it was
past 90 days and he checked and re-tighten the battery himself
and surprise...both problems disappeared!!! The first SEARS tech
did a nice job cleaning up my corrosion but I guess he was too
conservative about tightening up the posts. I was going to do it
myself, but I'm lazy sometimes
Sometimes, it's something really simple...
