Rear Bumper projects
I originally had a IOTA 55amp power converter in the engine compartment for running the sound system. This worked okay for a while, but when i started to crank it up, it just didn't have the power to support the system.
I came across a Iota DLS 75, but it's a little bigger. I decided to mount it in the rear instead of the front mostly to clean up the engine compartment. The size of the converter meant i had to remove the bumper cover to mount it. The removal procedure only took 20 minutes....and revealed 12 years of dirt and grime
The good news is that unlike the previous setup, there is a good grounding location less than 2 feet from the converter. I had to drill this one myself, but I believe on 01+ cars there is an existing grounding position.
Power converter mounted. There's a 3/4" slab of mdf on the other side where i mounted the JL 500/1 amp. Works well from both sides
With the converter mounted, the only thing left is to clean up the wiring mess:
The converter is connected to a IEC flush mount male outlet that's in the flat part of the bumper just above the license plate. More pics of that later when the wiring is finished.

He converts 120 volt to 12 volt to run the stereo for show purposes.
Hey G, you may as well illuminate the "Corvette" script while you got it off. Perfect the technique so you can do mine afterward.
