Default road jack

Now that I've gotten rid of the EMT's and have a tire repair kit can anyone suggest a very low profile jack to carry in thetrunk.

I found an aluminum scissors jack for my trunk. They originally came in Porsche or Mazda RX7 cars. It'll collapse down to 3.25" as I recall. It weighs maybe 3-4#. It has a flat base and crank handle. You can usually find them on EBAY for about $25...

If you check EBAY, use keywords "porsche scissors jack" or "mazda rx7 scissors jack". There are several listed.

There is one listed under Item number: 150367982585 (not mine, nor do I know the seller).

I found a scissor jack @ Harbor Frt. Works good and it's electric, plug in the cig lighter or hooks to battery. Beats all that cranking junk!

Will it still work for you when the off shore motor quits?

what diff does it make??????????????

I just stated what i found and it works and a lot cheaper than a 4 post lift you probably pull on a trailer just in case you need it!!!!!!!!

Why do people on here cut others down so much just because they don't like what they use or own? Some peoples opinion should be kept to themselves! I was taught that if you didn't have anything good to say, keep your mouth shut!

So, i guess if i pulled up on you with a flat you wouldn't want me using my jack with an off shore motor to help you out!!!!!!!!!!!

Dang people, come on, get real!!! Yeah i agree "buy american" but have you thought that these stores pay taxes and so do the people that work in them, so therefore you're helping americans either way you look at it!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you having a bad day?

I was hardly "cutting you down" for your choice. I asked a simple question that would concern me (maybe not you)...will it still work for you if the motor quits? (based on the comment "Beats all that cranking junk!")

BTW, my opinion is worth no more than yours. This is the internet.

Mercedes C Class jack, part # A 203 583 0315, retails for around $55...a CF member in Europe used to sell these...

Thanks for all the input. I went to the local Mercedes dealer and found that they wanted over $200 for the jack referenced. I was able to find a very low scisser jack, similiar to the aluminum one referenced but in steel in a salvage yard for only $5.

The guy with the original post on the Mercedes jack was selling them for $50 shipped from Germany. I was a little concerned it might slip under roadside conditions, so I machined a slot in an aluminum jacking puck to fit the nylon piece on the top of the jack. Works great.

Stock jack from my Yukon fits under and works like a champ. I carry a big hydraulic floor jack in the Yukon since there is room to store it under the seat and the Yukon jack in the Vette.

Non-runflats here...and no jack! I see no reason to carry a jack as I pay insurance to cover such an issue.

I must be having a bad day, but when I read your reply I thought you were being smarmy too. I apologize. It's hard to read "intent" in the written word.

Peace

PT Cruiser jack is very low. Also the lug nuts are the same size so the handle fits.
