I'd say probably 615mph. Trust me, I'm an expert in this field.

they are right .. maybe a bit more than 170, but you need well over 500BHP to get to 200.

I thought that the top speed (stock) were as follows:

http://www.corvette-web-central.com/...etopspeed.html

C5 1997-2004
..............0-60.....................1/4 mile.................Top Speed
1997-00...5.05 sec.(auto).......13.36/109.4.............172
..............4.72 sec.(6 spd)
2001-04...4.83......................13.10/109.1.............175
Z06.........4.0........................1 2.6/114................171

Stock C5 = ~315HP to the wheels (342's)
His C5 = 475HP to the wheels.

Stock Red line on C5 is 6000, his modified car red line is 6800.

Since C5's get there top speed in 5th gear, and since he can go to 6800 RPM, and has the extra HP push to get to 6800 RPM, I would think he would have a faster top end.

Those are "in theory" top speeds

aerodynamic drag holds all cars back.

I know a few guys who did the monster mile in Lauranburg Maxton airport.

The were all in excess of 700 hp to hit 180+ with in One mile standing start

and those guys getting close to 200 mph were over 900 hp.

Looks like the C5 needs an extra forward driving gear.

HP means jack. The car will only go as fast as You are willing to push it. With 502RWHP I toped out at 186 once and I/my car will never see that speed again! For bragging wrights you can do some math and claim whatever speed you can but there is much more to it than HP/RPM/TIRE DIA. You must also include atmospheric/road conditions, suspension set up and many more variables that will affect top speed of any vehicle. I'm not trying to be a smart ars, just saying as I see it.

The ZR1 will do 205 mph (stock). That's 640 crank HP, probably about 550 to the wheels. That obviously didn't occur after one mile. And the ZR1 has a higher drag coefficient than the C5 does.

475RWHP, I would say high 190's. Maybe 200 considering the drag coeff.

The OP asked for top speed, nothing about top speed after one mile.

Nick
