Haven't heard that one. I'm sure there would be a stong effort against that change by the LEOs. But, I for one wouldn't mind it if they did drop the front plate.

that'd be pretty nice.
we have them in ohio here, but after mounting it on the vette and seeing how is destroys the front end, off it went. Seems like 1/2 the vehicles in ohio don't have them anyway, so you only get pulled over if they're really hating on you.
of all the laws they usually enforce, the license plates almost always slide around here.

haven't heard that myself but I'd be all for it! Not running a front plate on the vette now anyways. Had a Saturn Sky roadster and didn't run a front plate on it either. No tickets (knock on wood). Just can't bring myself to do it.

So where did you hear Missouri was doing away with the Front License Plate Law? I am on several local Forums and read STL Today almost Daily and I haven't heard anything about this.

This would be great news if it happens! My C5 is originally from out of state and I'm going as long as I can without poisoning the front with a plate. Where did you come across this info?

We have to have them in Colorado as well. I got my first $15 ticket last summer for not having one. It took the angry cop, who was working Sunday while I was out with my top off, over a half hour to fill out the form. No points, not even on a ticket slip. They fill out the same form for a noise violation.
Sadly I think most states will be requiring at least two license plates. With all the cameras going up, the government is wanting their revenue. It's just one more step towards socialism and one step further from what this country was founded on, Freedom!

Today, states that have tolls roads are all using some sort of Electronic Toll Collection system. E-ZPass is probably the biggest system and then there is SunPass in Florida and California has some Other-Pass system.
They are all based on a transponder or 'tag' mounted on/in the vehicle. As you can imagine, the costs associated with the purchase and maintenance of multi millions of tags, not to mention the equipment to read and process their information, is VERY expensive.
These systems also all use an image capture or video system for the processing of transactions where the tags aren't read or to process toll violators.
The most likely 'next' toll collection system may very well be 100% image/video tolling. Some states are actually using it right now and others are testing it. With a video tolling system, the more images they capture, the better chance they have of collecting the toll revenue. Capturing both front and rear images of the vehicle plates becomes a high priority, especially in the very lucrative tractor trailer space.
Then, there is the newest video/image capture revenue producing systems.....those that issue summonses at the red lights. They also depend on capturing front and rear plate images in order to collect revenue.
That said, I find it hard to believe that states with such revenue producing systems that already have front plate requirements would actually repeal such an ordinance I find it more likely that those states that don't require front plates requirements will eventually implement an ordinance that does.....it's all about the revenue!!!!

Well, when I got my last "no front plate" ticket in St. Ann, MO. the cop told me that they were cracking down due to the increased use of the red light cameras, etc. A Cop friend of mine and I were just talking about this at Christmas and he didn't indicate any repeal of the front plate law.
So, I would be really surprised if they did away with the front plates. However, I have been surprised before and there is a new "sheriff" in Jeff City so who knows.

I doubt California will ever do away with that law. They use red-light cameras which snap a pic of the front plate. Big, big source of $$$ here.
