Blackwing Air Intake Questions
There are 2 holes at the base of the filter that line up with 2 threaded holes on the frame, should the filter be screwed and held into the frame instead of resting on the black plastic shroud?
Next should I could a hole in the black shroud for the backside of the blackwing to get air or will that cause a problem with dirt and water coming through there?

Yes it should be attached to the frame. The Blackwing fits like OEM when installed properly.
Carefully and firmly press the MAF completely onto the Blackwing and tighten the clamp. This will insure that he grommets at the top of the radiator cover line up with the holes in the Blackwing. The airbridge will fit the Blackwing like it fit the stock airbox.
Once you have it all pressed together, insert the grommets into the Blackwing. Using silicon spray on the rubber grommets and on the frame posts will make the assembly easier.
Once the MAF and Blackwing are together, press the entire unit onto the posts in the front frame. Then press the airbridge down into place and install the coupler.

Anyone using this Blackwing Air Induction Lid shown at the link in the above post and pictured below?
Does it come with good installation instructions?
Was it easy to install?
Can you cut the splash guard with a dremel while it's in the car or must you remove it first?
How does it attach? Does it snap into place?
Thanks,
..rickko..

Ya thats pretty funny....
I'll try and post some pics of mine.
I doesnt look bad at all and keeps alot of the dirt out of the engine bay.
It's kind of a poor mans Honker set up.
I used push grommets (like you find on just about any car) to secure it to the shroud.

I went to my garage to take these photos for all to see and judge. This is of my Blackwing installed with the "icebox" lid. It protects the element from the hot engine bay air. I cut a square hole in the shroud directly under the filter element so it gets cold air from under the nose. What do you guys think? I think it's just fine

I stuck my camera under the nose and took this, shroud is cut

Absolutely great photos! Thanks!
From the looks of it I think it must work quite well. I'm going to more seriously consider getting one.
How does your smog check go? Do you pass the visual or do you put the stock setup back for the test?
Thanks!
