Default Anyone try these Dupli-color touch up pens???

http://www.duplicolor.com/products/scratchfix2in1.html

They have these at Walmart in my color for like $7. I might try one to touch up a few scratches. Anyone have any good or bad results with them?

<---- Has never had to use one of those...

Ok I lie, it looks decent, you would have to examine my car to find where I have used it or I would have to point it out to you.

It's a good temp fix.

If you have a steady hand, and know how much to apply it will look half *** good, but if you are bad, then it will bulge up. Almost like a scar would.

i've used them and while they aren't a perfect coverup, they're better than having an obvoius discoloration.

I tried them and it looked like chit, I had a friend who has a much more steady hand and it looked halfway good.
so I would say it depends on the person using it.
I have very bad handwriting and suck and anything that requires precision anything almost anyway.
If you have a steady hand and are good as stuff like that anyway it will look fine.

Later a detailer went over it with some gentle rubbing compound and you had to look hard to see the scratch.
The color match was almost perfect on my pewter 98

I have used them and similar OEM from GM. They are fine the first time, but later the paint in the roller point will dry up and gets messy. They just don't store well after the first use.

they are great....
If you use them in conjunction with Langka ( newest school) or
3M trim and adhesive remover ( middle school) ....

Use the pen/brush to partially fill the crater (chip) with paint.
Then use the clear coat to create the bubble....
Then depending on Lanka ( 24 hrs) or 3M trim and adhesive remover (<8 hours)
cover a credit card with a soft cloth wetted (with either Lanka or 3M)
rub it across the bubble....
the solvent with remove the excess of the bubble and you will have an invisible repair....

Old school you do the same thing BUT you use an ink eraser.... not the pink pencil eraser but the blue ink eraser.... rub across the bubble of excess clear coat and abraid it away.....

Cool, I had not heard the 3M method. So you say <8 hrs.........can you give a tighter time frame after applying the clear ?
