Found a shop that rents their Lift!
Hey, for anyone interested in SoCal
I found a shop that lets me rent their lift and do my own work.
Charges a fair price and usually ends up given ya a hand to boot.
Bring your own tools though, for the most part.

ask for Chris and tell him Steve with the red convertible corvette sent ya
he likes to haggle price a bit so get your haggling shoes on, bit treat him with respect and you'll settle on a fair price ;-)
not sure if I'm allowed to post this so if I'm not and it gets deleted send me a PM.
Chris is a good guy for letting us do this so we can work on our cars, treat him well please.

Sounds like a very good deal for the SoCal members.

That was real common back then. There is a shop in Kent WA that is in that business. It's near Washington and Meeker. I however just use the one in my garage.

as a rule of thumb we end up working out a price thats about 1/3 of the cost of mech doing the work for me.
about $20-30 an hour for what I've done so far, thats fair considering I am tying up his lift that he could be making money on.
I figure paying him about a third of what I pay a shop to do the work for me is fair so thats what I negotiate...Plus, like I said, he ends up helping out cause he not the kind of guy to sit on his hands lol
basically for that price I get the lift, the occasional tool that I may not have brought with me, and an extra set of hands when I need it, all of which means I get to take the lead and do things how I want to make sure it gets done exactly how I want it....well worth it to me on DIY jobs that I can't do in my home garage easily.

Rent a bay in Kent, Wa
I send my mechanic enough business that I can use one of his lifts and tools. There is a place in Kent, Wa mentioned above called "self service garage". You can rent a bay, rent tools and even rent a mechanic. You can rent a bay with a lift for as little as $35 an hour or half day $150, Full day for $300 or even weekly.
