Default Happy 19th Birthday C5

19 years ago today I picked up my new pewter C5 coupe at the National Corvette Museum. It is the first and only Corvette I have owned. It's the 239th Corvette delivered in the R8C museum delivery program, what a great day that was. Personal plant tour in the morning and delivery in the afternoon. On that day it was the only production C5 on the museum floor. The other C5's on display were the crash test certification cars. The museum was much smaller back then.

19 years, 40,359 smiles later it has held up well. Most of the miles were on long trips, back to the museum 2 times with a friend to pick up his 2 new C6's. Vacation trips to upper Michigan 3 times, up to Ohio 2 times, and several to visit family in SC. Looking forward to many more years

You have taken such great care of your '98.
Still looks new. The C5's are timeless, it's hard to believe that the C5 generation turned 20 this year.

Congrats! Beautiful car

I'm on the road to long term ownership too... but don't have 23 years of bragging rights... I'm only at 10 1/2

They're great cars...bang for the buck, ageless and if well maintained, hold up really well.

Thanks for the comments guys, looking forward to next year when it rolls over to 20 years. Have been gathering some parts the last few months so have some work to do. New shifter cable, plugs/wires. Have a slight wobble with the balancer so probably get that done. Might do the water pump, hoses and belt idler/pulleys at the same time.

Man that's a lot of miles in one year, did you drive other cars too? That's called having the gas *** around here where I live. I guess you got to know it pretty well by the end of the year
