went in this box like thing
the new k&N filter
and it does not fit in the box like thing
so i just dropped it in there without the box but it kind of moves around and the bolts that close the air filter do not tighten because its so loose
i cant close the bolt with the filter in the box like thing because its too big

I'd stuff in that frame.

What part # did you get?
Mine fit like a glove. It's also a good idea to get the K&N grease to form a good tight seal against the air box.
Also that filter looks dry. K&N filters are supposed to be sprayed with K&N's special oil prior to going into the airbox.

Well guys at AutoZone have been known to make a mistake here and there. It should be part # 33-2111. Here's K&N's installation instructions. Read them and try again.

I took the airbox completely out of my car when I installed mine. I wanted to clean everything up before putting the filter in.
With everything out in front of me, I just didn't have that same issue.
Which side are you putting the gasket on?

anyone have any idea on how to solve my problem? Is there anyway I can make the filter stick to the airbox without the frame? Because if the filter is not loose then it does not matter if I have the frame in there or not right?

Go to the source.
Here's what I would do:
First, I'd call K&N and verify the part number.
Next, I'd ask them what the dimensions of the filter should be (talk to a technical person).
Then I'd measure the stock filter to see if it has the same dimensions.
If there is a discrepancy, I'd question K&N about why that would be.
The key is to go to the source, not the middle man. I helped a forum member install his K&N and while it was tight, the latches latched and all was good.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT under any circumstances run the K&N filter WITHOUT the filter frame that came on your car. You will ingest DIRT and eventually ruin your engine.
I have a K&N filter and it is a tight fit and hard to snap the fasteners shut, it can be done if you have the correct filter. Good luck, Ron

I feel your pain, I'm a magnet for things not working how they are suppose to and easy stuff like this too. I'm sure it's something minor that you're overlooking but would match the dimensions to see how far off the K&N filter is from the stock filter.
