Default After market car stereo install

I am going to add a double din stereo to my C5 Z06. I would like to use the factory speakers. What additional items (other than the radio) do I need for this install? Do I need an interface between the factory speakers and the stereo unit. Is there is a good place to purchase a replacement center console modified for a double din stereo? Thanks in advance for any help.

I went with Dennis on the bezel and his install kit, you can't go wrong with him as his quality and expertise is tops!

Just had Autobuffs install my Pioneer 4200 on Saturday.
Very happy with their price on the radio and the professional install,
thanks Travis and John. Now I gotta figure out all the features on this head unit.

I would not be in a rush to ditch the factory speakers as many, including me, are pretty content with the Bose system with a new head unit ... mine sound a lot better now that you can fine tune them with the new head unit. You can always swap out the rear speakers and swap out the tweeters in the doors if need be, this is not that expensive down the road. On our cars, the rear speakers don't contribute much, most like a nice full front sound stage.

Other than that, you're looking at some major bucks to run an amp and new speakers, sub and wiring all around. Depends on your budget and how much of an audiophile you are.

I STRONGLY urge you to look in the Audio/Electronics section (its under general corvette if you havnt found it yet). There is a TON of info already over there, and in fact I believe this topic is covered in a sticky. Check there and do some research before you buy andything or pay anyone to do it. You could end saving yourself a ton of money and headaches!
