Re-painting factory mufflers?
Just wondering if anyone has re-painted their factory mufflers black again?
The paint is starting to come off on mine, and was wondering what the best method for re-doing the paint was?

I need to do that to mine as well. I think a lot of folks on here like the chrome mufflers and chrome tips, but I think the back and black look much better on my AE. That, and I have never been a fan of chrome.

im not sure about stock mufflers. is it a one piece system or does it have c clamps to take the mufflers off? i had a muffler shop install my flows. but when i took them off it was a piece of cake. just loosened the c clamps then unbolted the muffler hangers and they slide off.

When I had the 98 coupe, I used to mask everything off and paint them once a year with high temp flat black.

Black Hi Temp BBQ paint is fine
I unbolted the mufflers (2 bolts each muffler to H pipe) lowered them but didn't remove them. Used a wire brush to remove flaking paint, masked area with newspaper and masking tape and sprayed several coats of black BBQ paint on them. BBQ paint from HD or Lowes will take the heat and not blister.
