Help! Dual climate AC control just fried its power board!
My dual climate AC control just fried its power board on the way home! A few days back I did the solder fix for the dimming screen, and everything appeared to be fine. While driving home from work this evening the screen dimmed a few times, and I just figured one of the solder contacts must not have been good, but just now driving home from a friend's party the screen went black, and then a short bit later smoke poored out for a few seconds. I drove home as quick as I could, pulled off the center console and removed the control unit, and opened it up. There's two tiny resistors that are cooked and one large one that doesn't look too healthy either. Oddly, nothing appears to be in line with (or anywhere near) the resistors that I resoldered.
Cliff notes:
- Dual climate AC unit's power board fried itself
- I need to find a replacement!
Any help or direction I could be pointed in for finding a replacement for a good price would be greatly appreciated! If someone's parting out their C5 and has a dual climate control unit for sale please post up!

C5s are always getting wrecked and/or parted out. At least 1 a week which is quite sad. So check the parts section everyday. You SHOULD catch one. If you don't find it there, I've seen them on "that auction site" for anywhere between $70-$120. If you want a good price on a new one, talk to Gene Culley.

Check with the used parts vendor here on the forum too. Might find one at a good price there.

Unfortunately the power board looks to be cooked enough that it's not repairable. The controller board looks to not have taken any damage, though. Tstar, if you want I can upload some photos of its condition.
I've already been contacted by a forum member so I may have a replacement soon.

Once I get my computer back from the repair shop (seems to not be my week for electronics, and I just didn't want to deal with fixing it), I'll post up some images of the power board. I'm curious as to whether, considering the damage the power board took, you would think the controller board is still in good shape. I didn't see any burn marks or damage on the controller board.

Can you find the part number on your power board and let me know what it is? I'll look in my spare parts bin but I seriously doubt I have one... It's a frequent casualty!
Typically the Display board it totally unaffected though...

Sure thing, Tim, I'll take a look at it when I get home.
I've actually got a forum member sending me his old unit, reason I was asking was cause the faceplate and one or two of the buttons were worn down on his, figured if the control panel on mine's likely to have survived I could just swap boards.

You can swap your whole faceplate, buttons and all with no problem unto his unit as long as it works...
The part number will be on the backside, centered on the bottom of the board written in solder, typically a longer number...
An 01 would probably have a 16254177B. And I don't have any, I just checked!

The other controller showed up today, swapped in that controller's board and it's working like it should. Perfect timing, too, cause it started getting hot again!
