Just looked at it from in the console. Heard it was tricky. It sounds from you like it's much easier than what I was thinking. Thanks for your time...I have my little weekend project now.

Coolarrow. To learn how to remove console, try this. On this page at the above right hand corner you will see "Search this Forum". Click there. Then you will see a rectangle white box. Type in Console removal. Click where it says"Go". There will be several previous posts in this regards. The second page under Console top removal by Vet 4 me is pretty good. Good luck.

I'm glad this question was asked. I have a new DD radio bezel and new center console, both "hydrocarbonized" by DD mods and his partners and was just thinking the same question when I was detailing my interior earlier today. Glad to know it's that easy!
BTW - if you ever need to know how to remove any interior parts, check out the Vette Essentials website. Some of the best "how to" instructions out there!

Thanks guys...Actually, I've gotten to be somewhat of an expert at removing the console. Long story short...the reason I was asking about removing the lock is because the rear console is the last piece I need to finish wrapping with 3M Carbon Fiber film. Pretty much the rest of the interior is done and if I may say so myself, I'm VERY happy with the way it came out. Covered the front console, left side of steering column, door bezels, seat feet, seat control bezels, A/C vent edges, and vanity mirrors. Will post pics in a few days when done.

Sounds as though your just about done w/ your mod. Looking forward to seeing pics when complete. You know, each time I take that console out I say that I'm going to extend the wires and put a quick disconnect on the VERY SHORT wires that go to the gas door "pop up". Oh well, maybe next time!! LOL.

Why don't you add some LEDs the next time you get into your console? Here's what I did. Just tap power from the 12v plug that is right there. Get a Momentary (plunger) switch from a good hardware store. I love being able to find what I'm looking for when it gets dark out.

That is a great idea on the console light. Thanks.

That is something I need to do as well!!! I hate how short those wires are! If anyone knows where to find a good connector to splice in there PLEASE let me know!

Did not remove the felt. I took the wrap down the side faces and stopped at the base. Too much stretching/cutting to make it look right, plus the wear and tear...just not worth it. - CoolArrow
