I posted this in the audio section but I began thinking that I might get more hits in the C5 General section.

I have a 2002Z with the stock HU with cd player. The cd player gives the 'err' message whenever a cd is inserted. I took the radio apart and cleaned the laser but still no go. I would like to add the disc changer so I can play cd's. I have a couple of questions about this?

1) Will the stock HU control a disc changer?
2) Does it matter if I get the 'err' message? Will this have any impact on the HU's ability to control the changer?
3) What type of changers will work with the stock HU? What type came in the cars?
4) What cable(s) do I need to connect the changer to the HU? I think all I need is the COR-HAR cable. Is that correct?

for the money your gonna spend just get an MP3/ipod hook up or upgrade your HU

as is... yes. But only the factory sold changer.

without a changer plugged in - it's common to get an ERR message when selecting the "AUX" input; though you seem to say the indash player is giving the error.

4) What cable(s) do I need to connect the changer to the HU? I think all I need is the COR-HAR cable. Is that correct?
on C5's newer than mid-1998 production run.. the COR is the only harness you'll need.
