Anyone got experience on the Wal Mart synthetic oil?
Hey, folks, my Wal Mart is selling full synthetic oil for $17/5 qt. bottle. It looks similar to Quaker State packaging, and that's who I've heard makes WM's engine oils.
Does anyone here have any experience with this oil?
TIA, and have a good one,
Mike

I was in the WalMart oil aisle the other day and did see that the 5w30 SuperTech Full-Syn did carry the GM8491-whatever "Corvette-Spec" number the GM approval is but did not have any of the 5 quart jugs, only the 1qt bottles that were no cheaper than the 5 quart Mobil1 Jugs so I never even considered it.
If the 5 quart jugs are cheaper by a lot, I'd use it as it meets the Corvette Spec.

If I'm not mistaken, it's a recycled oil with additives. Nothing wrong with it, I just wouldn't recommend running it past the 5000 mile mark like you can do with the big name synthetics.

Wal-Mart sells its own brand of motor oil. It is called Supertech. According the available Material Safety Data Sheets, the motor oil is recycled aftermarket motor oil made by either Westland/Speciality Oil Company (a division of Pennzoil-Quaker State Company) or Warren Distribution.

All that means is that GM was paid by Mobil for that "product placement". Such endorsements are commonplace, while Mobil 1 is a good product, it is not required to keep your LS1 healthy.

Agreed. And apparently a good method of endoresement by Mobil 1, as I have and will only use them on my vette.
If it's good enough for the GM factory, it's good enough for me!

I'm with ya killain. I just happen to use Mobil1 as it is cheap, I can get it anywhere, and all 3 of our vehicles can use the same 0W30.
It happened that the 5 quart jugs of SuperTech full-syn on the shelf at the WalMart I happened to be in did not have the GM 4265H on the label anywhere.
