Insurance for Corvette
Wow insurance for my Vette is $30 a month LESS than my Evo
I thought it would be as much or more.
Surprisingly, the three best overall vehicles were the Chevy Corvette Convertible, Mazda MX-5 Miata, and the Hardtop Chevrolet Corvette.

Corvettes are one of the cheapest to insure cars in America due to it's demographic. Because the majority of Corvette owners are at a "responsible" age (LOL) there are fewer car accidents and tickets for Corvettes. That lowers the insurance risk for Corvettes and therefore the cost to insure them is lower.
BTW, the Evo is one of the most expensive cars in America to insure, right along with Scion TCs and Cadillac Escalades.

Insurance was one of the pleasant surprises when I first started looking for my Vette. Exprememly reasonable!
In fact, most surprieses were pleasant ones compared to my 1980...ride, acceleration, handling, noise, lack of rattles, etc.....

My 2003 convertible is cheaper to insure than my last two Mustang convertibles. When I questioned the insurance company they indeed stated that it has much to do with both demographics and claims history. Before I retired from the Marine Corps, it was easy to tell when a unit returned from Iraq or Afghanistan, just by the number of new Mustangs on the base sporting temporary license plates. Most were being driven by young (under 21) Marines. There's your demographics and claims history at work.

True ... the largest contributor to insurance costs are always your age/sex and driving record and not the vehicle.

A few years ago I purchased a original Model A Ford which I restored. Insurance was $40 every 6 months on it. When I asked about it the agent said, "When was the last time you saw a 1929 model A in a wreck?"

More-so, the majority of Corvette owners are between 45 and 65 years old. That's the main reason there are fewer at-fault accidents and fewer speeding tickets for Corvette owners.
Funny thing is that I'm not 100% sure it's the age thing that makes the Corvette owners not speed or drive recklessly. Although it does play a big part. I'm 27 years, and I know if I owned my Z06 when I was 17 I'd probably have killed myself or someone else doing something stupid. But even at my current age, I drive my Z06 and I never feel that I have anything to prove. I have a "Corvette Z06". Everyone already knows it's fast. So I don't do stupid things. When I drove my Trans Ams and Firebirds and my 300zx, I absolutely felt I had something to prove and I did drive recklessly. In the Corvette, nope. My friends say that since I got my Z06, I aged 30 years.
Looking at all the Z06s that have been in accidents on this forum, how many of these accidents were actually the Corvette driver's fault? I'd say not even half.

At 17 you are invincible...at 45 you know better...and at 65 you are thankful just to get into a Corvette..

The insurance on each of my 4 cars is within appx 10-15 of each other. The 01 Vette is the most, but again only about 10 more than each of the other cars per month.
