Radar Detector Mount
Anyone find a good Radar Detector mount for the whacky 2002-2004 rear view mirrors?
I've seen a few nice ones, however they only fit the round mirror mounts. I don't like using suction cups and since I would like to wire the detector into the back of the mirror, I would like a nice, solid mount.
I like these (banner ad), unfortunately they don't fit the OEM mirror mount...

All the Valentines in all of my cars are on the dash with Velcro. When you have to park in a lot, you can just pull it off and put it on the floor.
I even take one of them with me when I fly somewhere and rent a car. Have some velcro and piut it right on the dash of the rental.

Check out the mounts from www.vettemods.com They mount using the visor hardware, are very sturdy, and make your detector less visible.

Mounting of Radar Detectors is personal preference. That being said.....
I have a Valentine 1. I don't like the visor clip because the detector is not level. I used the suction cups and my detector has been on the passenger windshield (right under visor) for years without any issue. This is accomplished by leaving the detector up all the time or simply sliding the detector off the mount as opposed to pulling the suction cups off each time.
Power is run from under the passenger seat rug and it goes on/off with the ignition. The wire runs under the pillar and you can't see it.
Best of all Cops don't see it either if you get pulled over like they will if you have something mounted under your mirror. They will also see your lights as well unless you have a remote unit.
I have a remote display wired under my rug and it runs to my ashtray where nobody can see it but me. If I park or get pulled over , I simply hide it by closing the ashtray cover.
I think its the easiest method, cheapest method (nothing to buy) to setup a valentine but your outcome might be different

I just removed the OEM mirror. But I know for a fact that Blendmount will accommodate your 2002. If the mount is smaller there is a insert so it will fit appropriately. I hope this helps!

I guess it won't help for you but I recently bought the blendmount and it is a solid set up It looks like it could fit around the round piece that is closest to the mirror of your year, but if it would I guess they would say that on their site.

I like the idea of mounting it under the mirror and connecting the power wire through the mirror (auto dimming feature mod).
If anyone has one of these mounts in a 2002-2004 using the stock mirror/mount, please post pics of your setup.
Thanks!

WTF??? I just bought a Valentine and I'm stuck with the suction cup? The visor holder it came with is great but too much off to the side and too high for the small convertible window

Anyone know why GM even changed the mirror mount during those years? Did they also change the mirror?
