Default How often do you change a fuel filter in a 00 C5?

Hello,

I have a 2000 corvette hardtop I have owned since new. It currently has 35,000 miles. I replaced the fuel filter about 6 years ago. Since then I have put 20,000 miles on her. Is it neccessary to replace the filter? Please advise!

Thanks,
Ray

I do ever 20,k to 25,k miles these days with all the crap in the gas.. Never put gas in your car if you see the station having gas put in there tanks from a gas truck. All that gas being pumped in will really move all the crap around....

So how do they get gas to the gas stations? By airplane? Crazy.

I replaced the filter on my 2000 right after I bought it when it had about 37k miles. that was about 3 years ago...if that helps.

I think he just means don't fill up your car while the tankers are unloading fuel because it stirs up all of the crap off the bottom of the tanks at the gas station. makes sense to me

He is saying it's better to not fill up right after they've refilled tanks. It stirs up all the sediment and could get in your tank.

There was a good write up in one of the Vette magazines a few months back about doing changing the filter as its a bit of a tight squeeze getting in there.

Speaking of filling up....does anyone remember when they used to not let you pump gas while they were refilling the tanks? Used to be that way around FL but they stopped doing it a while back....didn't know if it was a law or just safety precaution?

When I had my '00, I changed the fuel filter when the car had about 34K miles on it (was about seven years old then).

It wont crap out....but a plugged fuel filter will cause your (very expensive) fuel pump to crap out....Better quit pressing your luck....change it NOW!!!
