Default Street racing: not worth it

On my way to a party last night in Northridge CA, I cruise by a few LEO's going easy on gas pedal to keep quiet (B&B bullets get their attention fast)...when this F-body camaro pulls next to me.

We're at a light, he tried to show off to his female friend in the car by redline launching at green light,,,his exhaust was so loud (sounded like non-catted SLP's) it could be heard 5 blocks away

,,,and sure enough got the attention of the LEOS a few cars back, who pulled next to me and thought it was ME who did that

LEOs pull next to me and stare in my car, so I roll my window and hear "You know that was really stupid to do." I told the officers it wasnt me but the camaro down the block....took some time to convince them but they eventually let me go

I may be 21, but im mature enough to not race on the streets...its not worth the ticket or the possible accident

It's been said here many times - if you want to race, take it to the track. Good thing you followed that advice.

Happy you didn't get a ticket you didn't deserve! You should be a lawyer if you convinced them an unseen by them vehicle did that.

good job convincing them

in fl, you cant convict (actually u cant charge either) anyone unless you personally saw it. doesnt mean you wont get a ticket tho.

thats why he probably let you go, because he dint see you doing that...

I am right there with you buddy not worth it. Even more so down here in Southern California. When i lived up in the sticks in WA you could go out where no one was around on the back roads and have a little fun but not down here. I have the first loudmouths so i feel you on that one. But it's a vette bullets and Loudmouths are my fave!

Ive done it, got caught and suffered the consequences when i was younger and just got back from Iraq. Paid a lot of money in fines and lawyers as well as lost a potential job a few months later that i was hoping to get when i got out of the USMC. It was in my newly turbo'd 512whp Honda S2000. Got caught by a trooper. Was one of the dumbest things ive ever done. Sure learned my lesson and have never done it since. Take it to the track or learn the hard way.

I had 2 little honda's going 5 mph in front of me (4 lane road through town). They kicked it in front of the cops making all kinds of ricer-racket and I get pulled over for having Corsa Extremes. The cops thought I was transporting drugs though the town and tried to turn my fiance against me. They let me go, but Jesus H. Christ. That's bull****

I did a bunch of street racing when I got home from Vietnam. Things have changed considerably since the 60's and early 70's. I'm glad I grew up back then and not now.

HAHA WHAT?! And you should see how many little ricers like that there are cruising around chicago. I never get pulled over for my exhaust even when I had open headers for a few weeks lol but I know 5+ kids with ricers who have gotten noise pollution tickets. One time I got pulled over going 75 in a 40 and the cop came up to my car, looked inside, and asked what year it was and how much horsepower it had haha he let me go after a 5 minute conversation about my car

I was a big contributor to the Law Enforcement association in Onslow County(Camp Lejeune). So big that they went through the courtesy of picking me up at the Company HQ so I could make the Judges court with my contribution about every 2 weeks. I'm sure they have a wing in the new building with my name on a brass plaque.

I think I had 17 tickets that summer, racing, speeding, noise, no lights, no turnsignals, public exhibition, too many to remember.

Wasn't in my Vette, but I was riding my Suzuki Katana 750 down Main st in my hometown during a homecoming and a drunk driver was passing my in the middle of the road. The speed limit of Main st is 25mph and I think we were doing about 20mph. Well, this happened just as we passed a side road where a cop was sitting and he of course hit the lights and came after us. This speedy 20mph chase was short lived as I natually pulled over. The cop thankfully followed the drunk driver and stopped him. I pulled up to talk to the cop and he said he was pulling us over for drag racing. Drag racing!!!! At 20mph??? I laughed a lil and looked at the bike and told him that I certainly wasn't drag racing. He was a nice guy and smiled, then let me go.

I got stopped once for drag racing in 1970 in my SS 396 Nova. The car I was racing (and beating) turned off it's lights and ran. When I told the officer I'd gotten home from Vietnam a few months earlier, he told me to get the hell out of there and to choose my racing locations more carefully.

The *** hole cop said " I used to run around here in mustangs back in the day I know how it is. Just tell me you were racing them". I was like WTF!!! Any male cop that pulls a muscle car for exhaust is sexually confused and includes baking cakes in his list of favorite things to do.

I was a police officer for 34 years and love to bake. I've been shot, kicked, punched and have no questions about my sexuality. Wanna race?
