Default EBTCM failures tracking for 97-00 models

This is an attempt to gather data on whose EBTCMs have failed to see if they were due to sitting, the model of the ETBCM or year built, as well as if the module failed again etc.

I haven't had this failure on my 45,xxx mile 99 coupe and wonder if "exercising" the system periodically on wet pavement will prevent the failure.

Please state the year of the car,
Build date if known
Age of car when the EBTCM failed
Mileage at failure
The part number of the EBTCM if known
Revision of EBTCM IE... ABS-5/TCS/MSVA, ABS-5/TCS/MSVA2, ABS-5/TCS/MSVA3
If the replacement lasted
If the car has the JL-4 RPO for active handling
If the ABS was exercised or if the car was rarely driven in rain
Front or Rear mounted

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if you've seen this long running thread but it's got quite a few details already. It's not specific to 97-00 but it might help answer your question:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...bcm-issue.html

My view is that it's just an unreliable module. Mine failed under warranty but the car was a daily driver at the time.

I read the other thread and noticed that most of those who responded were from the 01-04 Corvettes with a few 97-00 models.

I was hoping to hear more from the earlier cars owners (97-00).

Mine hasn't failed and I am trying to see if there is a pattern of part #'s that have failed or part number revisions. This way if there is a definite pattern, it might keep someone from buying a spare of the same vintage and having a repeat failure.

I have a 1998 that is driven seven months per year and has had no computer failures in 99,000 miles. The ABS is in the rear and the car is driven in a lot of rain. Seven years the battery was disconnected for the winter and two years a battery charger was used.

I'd like to know that too and does that apply to all C5s or just the earlier models?

After 10 years, they don't have to do ANYTHING and after the backruptcy they probably have no liability at all, your basically on your own!
