I like that the C5R splitter sits higher/close to the front fascia, so therefore provides a little more clearance. The only thing I didn't like about the C5R Mach 1 version were the vertical side supports that stuck out from behind the front wheel well. I know the manufacturer is looking to trim those and taper them further in so I am looking forward to seeing the end result.

Both splitters looks great, however after reviewing this detailed write up, the manufacturer needs to perform some more tweaks to the design.

I'm still waiting for my side skirts and I'm not sure what to do about the rear-end yet. I've seen a couple of threads regarding a carbon fiber diffuser (Corvette Creationz Z06 group buy) and have even thought of carbon fiber vinyl, but I'm still undecided.

Ok, so back to the Vortex Lip install....
1. Jack up the front-end to gain access under the front bumper.
2. Remove the air deflector, left and right outer valances, and fascia close out panels.

3. The Vortex Lip has to be drilled for mounting. This could be a little scary (drilling something you just spend $$), but it's not all that bad. Kind of like drilling through plastic. My lovely assistant (wife) helped me align the lip so that I could mark the center two (one on each side) holes.

Center hole location...

Center hole mounted...

4. Once you have the center mounted drill two holes (each side) and use original screws hole that mount the outer valances and close out panels.

Outside mounted...

5. Once you have the center and outsides mounted checked the fit before proceeding...

6. You need to drill through your front bumper, so hold the vortex lip to check the best location. I drilled through the vortex lip and bumper at the same time. Installed the lip with stainless steel hardware from Home Depot..

Hole location...

Mounted...

7. Next, you will need to cut the nice carbon fiber lip....Yes cut! For the center mounting locations, the manufacture built up the sides which conflicts with the center air deflector being installed.

8. I used a Dremel to cut and form the vortex lip (it was like butter).

Air Deflector Installed...

Finally, Vortex Lip installed!

Thanks Pete Quik Z06 (Corvette Creationz)....I love it!

How much was that Vortex lip?

Just seems mike a lot of work to get this to mount right. Wonder if there is a reason for holes not being there and the spoiler fitting correctly?
triche, I sort of agree with you; however, each Corvette bumper is different, so the holes would be elongated, but I guess you could make that work. You still would need to drill the bumper towards the front so that the front lip is secured.

Very nice write up and pics. Thanks!

I'm a little concerned with how far back the spoiler goes back as it seems to cover a lot of the original open air flow box. It seems as though by looking at the pictures, there is only about 1" between the back lip of the splitter and the OEM flex spoiler which is designed to push air up into the intake. Or does the front opening in the splitter supposed to direct the air up instead?

In the end, it looks great!

BTW - you might want to get a set of Fangs.
Thanks. I do have fangs, just took them off in some of the pics...

Thanks guys. I agree with you. The manufacturer needs to at least trim the center mounts so the air deflector fits. Other than that it's an easy install!

I've seen this install in person and it looks pretty damn sweet.

Now we need to lower that thing so you scrape the hell out of it every time you go over a bots dot. Hahah!

Overall, how many new holes did you need to drill into the front fascia to secure the splitter? I know you re-used some of the existing holes/hardware, however I think I see two new holes that were drilled.

Yea, that's correct. You only need two holes on each side (four total) through the front fascia. You might get away with only one on each side, but that would be a very nice fit.

Thanks for the information. I'm always a little concerned with the type of design models that are used when they develop these after market spoilers and splitters. Especially those designed for the front of the car.

If you reach higher speeds, the splitter should force air down and under the car correct? I'm sure it needs to be locked down pretty tight to prevent it from sheering off due to the downward force.

It's definitely not going anywhere no matter how fast you go. A total of 10 screws all together hold it on. The thing you have to worry about are the curbs!
