Default What are the best headers for my c5z06

Hey guys what would say are the best headers to go. I want the best HP numbers. I was thinking LG super pro long tubes. I also heard american racing has very good ones as well for fit. What do you guys think. I am one of those guys who want the best at any cost.

You will get ever name that sales them on here. But get them coated and then put the heat wrap on them also. If you look at them are down at the headers you really cant see much of them anyway when they are on the car.

Oh no you didn't! You just started the which is better header thread! JK. So look your gonna hear everything from every brand with lots of questions and opinions. So this is going to go with your FI setup right? What kind of HP are you looking to achieve, you didn't say in your other thread? LG, AR, Kooks, Dynatech to start, there are others. Also have read a bit about XS Power.......

This could get fun,

I have 1 7/8 American Racing Headers and I am more than happy with them. I have no idea what would actually make more power.

There is no best. There is most expensive though.

Just do some research on all brands. Dyno comparisons of headers are hard to find. Vendors trying to justify another grand in price are easy to find.

You will need a tune after the header install, call a local tuner and ask what headers they see the best gains with.

I had very good experience with XSPower.

A buddy of mine installed LG's the same time I put my XSPower headers on. He gained 2.1hp and 1.4tq over me and spent twice as much as I did for his LG's............ I took the money I saved and order a MS3 cam kit. For the guys that are going to say "well, what will yours look like 3 or 4 years from now" We put them on 4 years ago and mine still look great.

What are your future engine mod plans?

For most the LG streets are all you need.

I want some longtubes also but I cannot see where they come up with these high prices for such little gain! I've had several sets over the years for small block Chevy's from $100 and up but never close to what they are now. What am I missing? I don't mind paying good money for anything but, come on vendors! Where's Hooker when you need them? Does anybody know if they make them for the LS engines?

Anyway, sorry for the rant! Just my opinion!

What would be a good coated header for a decent price for the LS's?

Thanks!

I too remember that days of $99 Cyclone headers for my 70 GTO.
Check out XSpower. Not $100, but half of what most others go for.

I've had Kooks long tubes on my 02 M6 vert for nine months now and I am very happy with them. She really growls now. Not so sure coating them is worth the extra money. You can't see the headers much and I have seen the coating burn off after time anyway on some of friends headers. But whatever your choice, I think you will be happy with them. Good luck.

My inital plan was to get LG Pros, but after doing a ton of research here on the forum and calling the manufacturers themselves to get a feel for their product directly from them I balked immediately at LG. Every thread I read here pointed towards codes being thrown constantly. A couple (possible) extra horses wasn't worth the hassle. I then turned my focus to American Racing. All the reviews were positive, no sign of code problems and the staff whom I talked to not only did not bash the competition (like the people at LG did), they even took the time to go into specifics with me and asked me what I have done to my car and what I planned on doing in the future.

My performance shop said they were available fairly quickly so it was an easy decision. I could not be happier. The car feels, responds and sounds fantastic.

Everything is subjective though. Read as much feedback here as you can. There is a lot of info on headers here on the forum.

Yeah XSPower is half because they are China made garbage and falsely advertised by the seller on here as US made. XSPower has sold products in the import world for years and is universally known as junk. They've improved their processes over the years and increased their product line, but I'd never put that crap on any car of mine.

A whole lot of people on here got big time duped into believing XSPower is a US made product. That is china junk all day long. Do NOT buy xspower...period. Sorry if this bothers those who have XSPower, but take that up with the seller that told you is was made in the USA because it SURE AS HELL is not.

OBX, XSpower, SSautochrome...all china made junk
